{"id":10250,"date":"2019-02-07T10:16:27","date_gmt":"2019-02-07T08:16:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gnl.gr\/2019\/02\/prologiko-simeioma-toy-proedroy-tis-kypriakis-dimokratias-k-nikoy-anastasiadi-stin-ekdosi-toy-melathroy-oikoymenikoy-ellinismoy-istoria-tis-kyproy-v-tomos\/"},"modified":"2020-01-20T12:07:29","modified_gmt":"2020-01-20T10:07:29","slug":"prologiko-simeioma-toy-proedroy-tis-kypriakis-dimokratias-k-nikoy-anastasiadi-stin-ekdosi-toy-melathroy-oikoymenikoy-ellinismoy-istoria-tis-kyproy-v-tomos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gnl.gr\/en\/2019\/02\/prologiko-simeioma-toy-proedroy-tis-kypriakis-dimokratias-k-nikoy-anastasiadi-stin-ekdosi-toy-melathroy-oikoymenikoy-ellinismoy-istoria-tis-kyproy-v-tomos\/","title":{"rendered":"Introductory note of the President of the Cypriot Democracy Mr. Nicos Anastasiades on the publication of \u201cHistory of Cyprus\u201d Volume B\u2019 of Melathron Ecumenical Hellenism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With great pleasure, I was informed about the initiative of Melathron Ecumenical Hellenism to publish the two-volume work \u201cHistory of Cyprus\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The present publication, in a retrospective course throughout the centuries, starting with the prehistory of the island until the facts that marked the more recent years until 2004, approaches, inside its pages, broadly, the rich History of our martyric homeland.<\/p>\n<p>A History that is turbulent and whose development was defined mostly by the strategic geographical position of the island, as a crossroad of continents and as a spot of co-existence of great cultures of the area.<\/p>\n<p>A century-old History, in which Cyprus managed to develop and maintain its own religious and cultural identity, with the vast majority of the population remaining completely identified, over time, with its Greek origins.<\/p>\n<p>The present work, result of the thorough and established research of thirteen chapters by eight respected University Professors under the scientific supervision of Professor Savvas Neokleous, allows the history-enthusiast reader, a multi-sided and multi-leveled overview of all those incidents that have defined the political, cultural, social, religious and economical course of Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>In this scope, considering the capability of the objective, thorough study of this century-old course, as well as its historical and educational worth, the publication emerges as a work of reference and valuable tool in the hands of every researcher, scholar, historian and zealot of the history of the place.<\/p>\n<p>Greeting this intact, from every aspect, publication, I warmly congratulate Melathron Ecumenical Hellenism for the sum of the praiseworthy action it develops by serving the aim of protection and transmission of the History and Culture of Hellenism.
